Eugene V. Koonin

Professor Eugene Koonin, is a Senior Investigator at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), National Institutes of Health and is also an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences. He is a world renowned evolutionary molecular biologist and his research focuses on investigating what functions genes perform and how organisms gain and lose genes over time. He hopes to obtain clues in genome sequences to reveal the origin and progression of life on Earth.
